Found this quaint village by accident, what fun it was. A Shaker village on 32 acres of farmland. Don't be surprised if you spend a bit of time exploring and reading their history as well as walking the pathways to see the animals, visit the shops, and to enjoy the restaurant. I forgot to ask about steps when I booked my room, I have knee issues and I struggled to get my suitcases up to my room. I found out later they would have helped me. The room was a delight from the hardwood floors, to the rugs, the windows overlooking the area as the sun set and the village lights came on, the antique furniture, the design of the room, even the locks on the doors. While walking some of the paths at dusk I discovered there were areas that had campfires set up! Did you ever find any of this at a place you just booked to get a good night's sleep?!

Great stay in a historical setting with great service and friendly staff. I was able to bring my toddler and not worry about keeping him busy. He loved all the activities and farm animals and came back home very exhausted. We loved how you could come and go to explore all that was offered, like the farm, trails, tours, etc. Could be a wonderful place for reunions. The restaurant and their service were very good, which as you know is very rare these days. The history of the buildings was fun to explore. Also, it was the perfect place for the family to hang out if you need to make a quick trip to Keeneland as it was an easy 20-minute drive.

If you like beautiful rolling hills, miles of trails across creeks and through woods, and staying in historic buildings, this is the place for you! We loved our time here, taking tours of the buildings, experiencing the small animal farm, taking long hikes, seeing waterfalls down at the Kentucky River, and eating farm to table cuisine at the inn. The rooms are simple, quaint and charming, clean and very comfortable. Outdoor fireplace are available for bonfires. If you have horses you can board them overnight and ride all the trails. An amazing place!

breakfast was decent, but a bit pricey. Also variety of choices was limited. We would like to come back to explore the property. The weather did not permit us to make use of the extensive trails. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bath supplies and coffee were great! I also enjoyed reading a bit about the history of the village from the book that was provided in the room.

As an architect, this was a destination. You are IN the museum village which is amazing. The room and West Village Family building are stunningly maintained in reasonable historic manner. It really is a destination for history lovers. Superior optional breakfast in yet another restored building. The walking of the village at dusk, the outside fire pits, the dawn light are all worth the journey.
